Make a hole with a custom shape

Hi Everyone, here I am again :D This time I have a custom 2d shape made with curves that I want to place on a face of my solid and make a hole with it ( part to part ). I have the following problem: 1) I don't understand how to move this 2d shape precisely on the face 2) I tried to make the hole with the function "push and pull" and/or "cutout solid" but when I'm in position I'm not able to select the 2d shape and pull: the selection goes always on the below face or on the solid form. I know it seems to be an easy operation, but I can't achieve it. Thanks for everything!

I'm sure there are easier ways, but 'EXTRUDE' your 2d shape.
Place it on the surface, move desired depth, and 'SUBTRACT'
The shape can be longer, and you can 'TRIM SOLID'.

The cutout solid and protrusion solid tools make subtractive and additive custom shapes that are associated with a part, like holes and bosses but with any practical shape, not only circular. You can also add features like chamfers, blends and subsequent shelling that respect the profile and part history.

Thanks! I'm going to try it now and I'll let you know. :D

Ok perfect. I used the "extrude then substract" solution. And it worked fine. Thanks! But let's consider a similar topic: I'd like to snap the shape on a face, then precisely intrude the shape in the solid for some millimiters. I'd like to find a solution to this in order to understand some command. 1)First of all: I really can't snap a 2d shape or other things to a face. They are vertically aligned but I can't "lay" the figure on the face. How can I achieve this? I thinks it's a really important function 2)Then if I understood well I have to use push/pull function, click on the path of the 2d shape and click in the direction I want to intrude ( without clicking shift or other buttons ). Then if the solid is on the way, ViaCAD will make the intrusion ? Correct ? Sorry if I insist but I'd love to understand how it works :D Thanks as usual, for your precious and appreciated help !

move (translate) your 2d shape with your mouse onto the face. do as follows:
see figure 1: the shape and the solid in front view
see figure 2: the shape and the solid in trimetric view
see figure 3: now fence select the shape.
set snap settings as shown . grab the shape at a point on the lines,
hold down "z" key to limit the translation to the "z" axis , move with mouse onto the face and it will snap to that face
see figure 4: the result

Yeah! Superthanks! I made it. Very nice. I used the CutOut Solid function after I set up everything as shown. Thank you very much again, very useful ^_^

The Magnet tool is also a great way to place a 2D shape onto a planar face of a solid.
