I’m new to ViaCad 8 2/3d and struggling with what AutoCAD would call blocks. What does ViaCad call them?

I imported an Autocad file with people symbols and they have come in with all the figures in one block
How do I go about turning each figure into a separate block within the ViaCad drawing?

Thanks

Tom

Managed to sus it out from the manual so for other newbies:

Blocks are Groups in ViaCad

If Symbols come in as a single drawing you need to select all ...go to Edit, then ungroup

Tom,

Tim Olsen has a video on how to make “Symbols” in ViaCad - aka- blocks in AutoCAD that will show you exactly how to do that. You can ungroup (explode) the .dwg in ViaCad then pick what you need to create your own symbols. – There plenty video tutorials on the web on top of the ones that come in the program. They will walk you right through many situations you may come across. Once you get past the difference in terminology between AutoCAD & the ViaCad/Shark line I think you will really enjoy it. Good Luck! I hope it helps.

Thanks LDA50 for your answer,

It works but not exactly like blocks in AutoCAD. When I create symbols or groups and paste them into the drawing, they are not associated to the original. If I made some changes to the original, these changes does not reflect on copies. In AutoCAD if I rewrite a block all the blocks instances reflects the change. Is there a way to do it in ViaCAD?

thanks,

Marcos
