FYI, I've updated the PowerPack : Verify : Repair Profile tool in build 1146.
http://www.csi-concepts.com/Demo/videos/repairProfile.mp4 Repair Profile does:
--remove very small curves
--reconnects curves
--makes all curves planar

I assume this just work on xy-plane or work plane. It is a great addition for novice. My suggestion will be to make planar at a given z-just a thought but not necessary since a group can be shifted.
