Hi All,

We have updated the ViaCAD 2D/3D product with a courtesy service patch. This will update your software from 710/711 to build 737 mac or 738 pc. To get this patch:
--Launch ViaCAD 2D/3D
--Click on the Help menu
--Click on the Current Version item
--Click on the patch installer. This will updated your copy of ViaCAD to the most current V5 service pack.

The 738 patch updates the software with the following changes.

1. Major ACIS update.
Each year our kernel provider Spatial puts out a major release of the ACIS kernel. 738 updates the kernel from ACIS R16 to ACIS R17. Spatial reports that R17 has improved blending, shelling, and booleans.

2. Updated IGES and STEP translators.

3. Update DWG/DXF translators
Improved the text & dimension height calculations based on AutoDesk rules. Now support ability to export hatches. Fixed several crashes.

4. FACT now supports unit drop down.

5. Selection issues when zoom way up.

6. Crash with double line tool.

7. Ability to assign short cuts to user defined pen styles

8. Issue double clicking file before registration process completed.

9. Page setup/print issues on Mac

10. Changed permission of folders on mac for Leopard.

11. Changed location of regisration information on mac for leopard

12. Increased recognized space for region trim tool

13. Corrected screen refresh issue where integer overflow when zoomed way way up and deselect tool where it invalidates a region of hte screen.

14. Data entry window translate now hilites the non zero value it if exists otherwise, x.

15. Corrected bug with selecting control points of faces/and calculating extents of surface_faces.

16. Updated Adobe Illustrator export to support a scaling option.

17. Option to keep core was not working.

18. Changed construction lines to use viewbased clipping to support closer zooms (avoid integer roundoff).

19. Fixed array overflow for certain detailed fonts with a large number of defining curves.

20. Corrected crash on read bug from tech support regarding group links not getting rebuilt correctly from a viacad 2d/3d file.

21. Creating a new view from rotation now applies multiple rotations at a time and will not apply them again after ok is hit

22. Dxf/Dwg exporting error handling includes using a temp file and has a dialog box for error reporting.

23.Added shift key graphic to Edit:Select Chain tool menu for mac.

24. Corrected issue of dangling profiles after you delete a part.

25. Feature reordering issues.

26. FILE:Open with no other files open, and open dxf,dwg, step, etc would change the window title to UNDEFINED. now it uses Untitled.

27.Copying hatch will copy as lines to the pastebuffer

28.VRML export was not supporting grouped objects.

29. Fixed pts overflow crash when return key was hit during creation of solid primitives.

30. Added data entry fields for infinite plane object.

31.Corrected a crash on mac when resolution set to thousands instead of millions.

32. Refresh issue corrected for redrawing of spiral, helix, and helix path when change made via data entry windows.

33. Update the progress cursor after an export operation. (remove spinning cursor)

34. Undo on a history feature was not forcing a regen on the history container, which would mess up subsequent instances (manaul, linear, polar) or model to sheet operations.


35. Rhino and Dwg import were not zooming extents after read.

36 Corrected issue with Dimension text displaying decimal places of 0.

37.Writing out dwg/dxf files with the layername "0' would abort the export process.

38.Turn off blue cursor progress when nudging.

39.Added option to turn off silhouette edge calculation global to improve display performance.

40. Updated selmask ent handling logic so AuxViews and AV ents are masked properly.

41. Added hatch entities to data entry window for selection/modify of spacing and angle values.

42.Bezier fitting improvements, dont project if its already in plane. Used in Adobe Illustrator export.

43.Meshes were not including in hidden line rendering.

44. Corrected a crash converting curves to bezier. This was a zero length curve that caused the crash from an adobe illustrator import.

45.Fixed crash copying cross hatch.

46.Correction for silhouette edge calculations for solids

47. Break trim prompt did not show prompt for use pen color in one case.

48.Break curve tool tip prompt was not displaying and use pen color was being ignored.


49.Fixed crash when min distance was being called on non-curve entity.

50.Fixed a bug in rebuilding feature clues for face ids when the uv clue was at a vertex or along an edge. long time bug, improves regenability for face based featue operations.

51.Data entry window for lathed solids was not working when deeper in history tree.

52. Added replace profile option to feature tree.

53. Advanced transform tool palatte was 2 pixels taller than all other tool palettes.


54.Corrected long standing bug with right click: Select all:Text and Dimensions.

55.Corrected problem selecting solids by edges in wireframe after a regen.


56. Added new protrude by distance option.

57. Aded new cutout by distance option

58. Aded replace and remove curve as profile operations in feature tree.

59. Fixed properties dlg crash with show units ON.

60.Reset snaps when new user changes tools. Solves situation where sometimes snaps would stop working.

I just looked at the update, and it is telling me the latest version is 737??

Todays date is Feb 11,, and its 4:26 pm.

I don't see any reference to version 738.

I observed the same behaviour - reinstalled ViaCAD because I had 737 installed and thought somehow that was screwing up the update to 738.

738 had one change over 737 for ViaCAD 2D/3D. It included a Windows DLL that may not be on some machines. I'm checking with the web guys to get the correct PC build at the site. If you are a mac user, 737 is the correct build.
