Bad curve rendering or...? (#1432)

Or am I doing something wrong? I've just come over from TurboCAD, and I am having the same problem with VC3 as I had with TC2/3: very poor spline curve rendering, both on screen and in print-out. If I draw an Interpolate Spline, the final curve does NOT intersect all the control points. It appears as a series of straight lines, and depending on the size, shape, and number of control points, the error can be quite bad, as much as 5 mm! I've attached an example, albeit where the error is only about 2,5 mm, but still far beyond what is acceptable (second file is to show overall size of the curve). The funny thing is that ViaCAD knows all too well where the curve REALLY is, as the "on" indication appears in the proper place when I put the cursor on the misplaced rendered version of the curve. I could live with this if it were only a screen drawing problem, but unfortunately is does exactly the same in print-out.
I drew for 10 years with ClarisCAD in the Classic environment, and CC was perfect in its curves. What gives?
Ciao,
Paul

Welcome Paul, I am always been complaining about poor resolution too. Though, did you try "even distribution" in Edit menu "change resolution" ? JL

Hi, Paul
Welcome, Please see this thread with large discussion on display
http://forum.punchcad.com/showthread.php?t=1353 and one on custom resolution.ini file
http://forum.punchcad.com/showthread.php?t=1090 As JL suggested try the Even distribution box, but Also try adding a custom resolution.ini in your Environ folder.
Here is the contents of mine:
[CurveResolutions]

VERY_FINE=2.0000000000000000
SUPER_FINE=1.0000000000000000

Great!! It worked, though the improvement didn't manifest until I changed the resolution of the selected curve in the "change resolution" option from the edit pull-down. Even distribution didn't seem to make any difference. Funny thing is I had tried changing the resolution in the Object Info box, but that just kept giving me the old resolutions. In any event, I am now a VERY happy camper!!!! Thanks also for the very quick response. A vast improvement over Turbo CAD!! Now, onward to another problem (another thread). Caio, Paul
