Additional tool options (#3707)

Using Shark FX7 and Mac OS, when a tool is selected from the main tool palette, the icon is displayed in the upper left of the Prompt window. If the tool has additional options as denoted by the arrow in the lower right corner of the icon, these should be available for display just below the prompt. On both my laptop and desktop, all the options are available from the tool palette, but most are not available in the prompt area. For example rectangle and wall are available, point, line and center point arc are not available and no arrow is shown in the icon in the prompt area. If you need more detail, I can try every possibility to see which work and which do not, but you may already be aware of this. J. Tucker

The same arrow in the lower right is used to denote additional related tools are available in the tool palette, while once tool is selected, the arrow in the icon in the prompt area is only shown if that tool has options, not to select the related tools. i could be wrong though... J. Tucker

Everything looks aok here. Maybe a screen shot might point me in the right direction to look though. Tim

This has happened to me a few times. Somehow the tools location moves to under the top control bar. The fix is very geeky. You have to open one of the .ini files that are in user / Library / Preferences / Punch! / Shark FX and look for a tool that has a screen co ordinate position that has a Y value of less than 120. Edit that position to something like 200,200 save the file and re-start Shark. If you got the right tool the tools options will have returned. To be safe, save a copy of the original file so that if you change something that you should not you will have a backup. What is needed is a reset tool positions button in the preferences, but of course this would probably blow away all tool locations. It would however be a big help for when you move from a big screen to a small screen and lose tools.

Does that explain what I see? I think it does, in which case there is no problem, as I misunderstood the intent of the arrow: In the tool palette the arrow "points" to additional related tools. Rectangle Polygon > Rounded Rectangle, Slot, etc. In the prompt area the arrow "points" to sub options for that particular tool, not to other associated tools. Rectangle Polygon > center Point Polygon, Diagonal Polygon, etc. All the icons in the tool palette have associated tools, hence they all have arrows. Not every tool has sub options, so the arrow disappears when the tool is shown in the prompt area. Thanks, J. Tucker
