ObjText defaults? (#1479)

How do I set 'ObjText' defaults? I can set the text properties for a Smart Dimension, but only AFTER the dimension has been placed. Actually thats not quite true, the actual text size default is set, but NOT the size of the arrows. These can only be changed after placement. If I pre-select the Smart Dimension tool icon the menu bar says DimText, changing properties here does NOT affect Smart Dimensions arrow size. There appears to be some subtle difference between DimText and ObjText? What am I doing wrong?

ObjText refers to currently selected text values whereas DimText refers to default dimension text values.
To set defaults for any of the drafting / text / annotation tools in Shark you need to do the following:
1. Nothing must be selected in your drawing
2. Select a tool which contains the parameters you wish to change defaults for. For example if you wanted to change dimension defaults then select any dimension tool.
3. Change parameters. For example for dimensions you can change arrowhead type, arrowhead size, text height, colour, etc
4. These parameters are your new defaults and are persistent between sessions of the program.
* There's just one caveat, don't change your dimension standard after setting new defaults for your dimension text size, arrowheads, etc as this will overwrite your settings with correct values to adhere to standard you select
I have knocked up a quicktime movie for you which I hope illustrates the above.

A very bad caveat indeed !
It's very nice on your video, thanks Nick, but setting personal standards is another story : trials and errors for me, (I still haven't understood the settings overwriting logic) ...
May I ask for a palette again ?

Hello JL Agreed a single preference pane to set all dimension variables would be a big improvement. All the best Nick

Thanks guys, I agree v-confusing. There are just too many places to set and ehem.. override dimension properties: standards, defaults, object properties ... and possibly a load of stuff I haven't found yet.
I guess my original post said why do arrows scale with ObjText size when there is also ObjPen - Arrow Size. To say nothing of the 'Scale values with text size' check box, which might just be the answer to my original post!
Dare I suggest that some manual pages on the subject might be more use than a video tutorial. While cool (yuck) and a great marketing tool, even a boon for beginners, will never be a substitute for a proper manual.
MANUAL .. are me, those were the days, we will just have to make do with a good forum and perseverance.
