I am using VIA CAD Pro V7. I am trying to perform a fill operation in a 2D drawing. I am drawing a square with the line tool and then drawing a circle within the square with the circle tool. I am selecting the fill tool and clicking inside the square but outside the circle. The region I expected to be filled (area inside square and outside circle) is filled but I also end up with a line starting at one of the corners of the square and ending along the circle edge. If I try to delete the line the line and the fill is removed. What am I doing wrong???

Hi I have only just started using ViaCad. I had a bit play around with what you posted. I am using V8. I found that if I draw a square with a circle inside, then filled the space between using the fill command from the draw menu, at first the line you mention is there but disappears after exiting the command. So all is well. However, doing the same thing and using the fill command from the modify menu, then the line remains just as you say. Delete the line and the fill gos as well. So it looks like, in 2D drawing mode it's best to fill using fill from the draw menu. Maybe it's a bug? Hope this helps. John

I am using V8 and a I am a new user. After reading your post I had a try at the same thing and have the same problem. When the fill is a solid colour I don't see the line joining the square and circle (as the line and fill are the same coloue), but when I change the solid to a hatch pattern the line is visable. So I am also interested in any advise. John

the solid fill is not an entity like the cross hatch but an attribute of the polygon entity (see Inspector), i.e. can be created only with an appropriate polygon as boundary. Norbert

When you fill a region, the fill is outlined with a polygon, and the line is two edges of the fill's polygon frame. Setting "show frame" to 'no' in inspector hides the polygon outline.
