Hello Filip.

On Page 67 of the User Manual (PDF-File) for Viacad V8 it says:

... blabla ... use the "Import > Grid Surface" feature ...

You are right, in ViaCAD V8 1016 we don't have that option.

But i have also installed ViaCAD Pro 7 967 (the Trial) on my PC
and there THE OPTION EXISTS in the File > Import- Menu.

So either it is a pro-only option (should be marked as one in the manual if that
is the case), or it was deleted during the general update process V7 -> V8.

Install the V7 Pro-Trial and you are ready to go ...

Hello Filip,
try using import format "Ply". That imports point clouds into a smooth surface.

hope that helps,

In Viacad Pro v7 I tried dat file and add by my own label I add at begin 16X16 not best results.

I tried to read it as ply but nothing happen. I also attached this file.

P.S.
This functional of Cloud Compare we could have in Shark LT or FX :) with automatic surface creation :)

Shark/VC has difficulty with this file because it's unstructured. The grid surface import states "an m x n array". I took the cloud_compare.txt file and headed it "POLYLINE", appended .spl to the file name, and imported it with this result.
