Hi all,
I spent some time doing 2d artwork for an item I wish to engrave. To get an impression of the outcome, I tried extruding it. When it finished (it took a little while), the result was not quite that which I expected. A look at the pic will show that most of the extrusion (letters and frame) was negative, although I thought I had selected a positive direction, some letters did not extrude at all, and some unexpected extrusions took place in a positive direction!
It was all done using the same method; enter text, modify font and size, convert objects to lines.
I confess it is not that important to me, as I only need the 2d lines for the cnc engraver, but I thought someone might either be interested in this (Tim?) or explain to me why it is happening.

Hi,

I have had some unexpected results with text. I have found the best way is to convert the text to "Curves". That way, the letters/number with holes (like A D 6 etc) do extrude with the hole cut out, and I do not see as much of a problem, even when extruding quite a lot of text at one go.
