Hi all,
I'm new in this forum and a new user of ViaCAD 2D/3D. Not new in cad and 3d modelling (I have 20 years experience).
I find that ViaCAD is a powerfull software, particularly as regards the ability to filletting everithing and the ease of moving the faces with the gripper.
What I find frustrating is the selection. I do not know if because of my ignorance. I would like to close curves and then select whole and not piece by piece. This becomes very annoying, for example, if the curves lie on the face of a solid. Second, when I am in shading display mode, I would be able to select a solid by clicking on it without selecting the parts that are invisible because they are hidden behind that solid. The ambiguity popup is usefull, but sometimes it opens a window with 5 or 6 selecting options while it is obvious what I want to select. So I ask you:
- Can I join curves, like in many othe softwares, without having to create blocks or groups?
- It is possible, in shading display mode, make opaque objects to the selection so you do not select the objects that are hidden behind?
Thanks in advance.

Guido :)

Over 2000 views and no one replies. This is strange. Are my questions so stupid they do not deserve an answer?

Hi Guido,
I have a tip for your curves question.
I haven't seen a tool that will make curves/lines into one continuos connected line.
Try selecting one line and using "Select Chain", go to Edit, Select Chain or use
CMD + SHIFT + ~. It will select all curves/lines that touch your selected line.

Best Regards,

Darren

Hello.

Under "Modify > Trim" you have the possibility to Connect or to join curves.
At least under Viacad 2D/3D V8 on Windows.
Since I am new to Viacad i can't say how long these options already exist.

Thank you guys for the tips.
I saw that the best way to select curves is to use the Select Chain command, maybe giving it a shortcut key. Reguarding the function Join Curves, I find it not very useful because destructive, in fact it transforms arcs into splines then you can not go back. For the solids selection, however, I do not see a solution ...
Bye
