Using Viacad 2d/3d version 8 in 2d mode. On a mac running 10.7.4
Background;I am working on an architectural drawing designing an extension for my house.
I have used Viacad intermittently for years and years.

I have a problem on one layer that I use for doors and windows.
They are positioned in three element walls. The wall is on a separate layer.
The problem occurred when I abutted a door element to a window element.
The two elements may have slightly overlapped, I was using the nudge tool to move the window along the wall into position beside the door.
The symptoms are when I finished positioning the window all elements on that layer disappeared or became invisible. The Grid also became invisible.
If I deactivate the doors/windows layer the grid comes back. If I reactivate that layer the grid disappears again.
I cannot select any doors or windows with that layer active.
The doors and windows remain invisible.

Help!

Further to the above problem.
This bug also causes the default construction layer to become invisible even if it is selected as the working layer.
Again the construction layer becomes visible when the windows and doors layer is hidden/deselected.

Can you post the file for someone to look at?

Ok I have tried to repeat the problem on a new drawing but cannot get it to misbehave.
So assuming my original file has become corrupted I have attached it for possible inspection.

I went back to an earlier version of this drawing and have duplicated the bug/problem.
It occurred this time when placing a second doorway into a multi element wall.
I had just placed one doorway successfully without a problem them as soon as i clicked a position for the second wall the problem arose.
(As far as I can tell) what is happening is that when creating the door object a fault occurs where instead of creating an opaque region in the wall the whole layer becomes opaque, hiding any layer below the offending layer and also hiding the grid. Selecting a now hidden layer in Explorer/layers window and right clicking 'select all in layer', then Edit/Arrange/Bring to front allows the layer (which is lying below the opaque layer) to once more become visible.

Unfortunately deleting the door creation layer does not solve the problem.
The 'opaque layer' still remains , as do the opaque regions in the walls where the doors were before their whole layer was deleted.

Latest drawing attached with newly created problem contained.
Oh yes I should add that using the undo command did not correct the problem.

Head scratching!
