Aligning parts easily (#3777)

Hi there
I hope this isn't a dumb question (hey, I'm new!) .. but I have built up a simple assembly of three hinge parts which will be connected using a central bolt / shaft through a hole in all 3 parts. I'm trying to align the parts precisely, by moving them in various views (top, right side, iso, etc) to jiggle them together ... But when I do a model-to-sheet (or look in 3D closely) I can see the parts are not quite aligned!
Is there any simple way to get parts to align properly in 3D? I suspect the answer may have something to do with some/all of: the gripper, workplanes, etc - all of which I don't have much experience using!
I've attached a screenshot of the problem and a copy of the model I'm using.
Bonus question: How can/should I hide all those blue "profile" drawings that become detached from the extruded 3D part once I start moving them around? Seems a bit wierd to me that these would float around? Should I be using a different line style when I construct them, etc?
Many thanks for help and suggestions!

I moved my profiles to the Construction Layer - I presume this is what it's for? The main design is still on Layer 1. That solves one issue :) Re alignment - I found the alignment tool and I created a construction line from center to center of the hole through the ends, but still trying to figure out exactly how to make it align. I'll keep trying!

Hi Dave
You could use the translate tool and move each piece from the center of the hole front face to the center of the hole of the matching part back face, and then you could rotate each piece once they are all together and aligned by the center point as well if the rotation is bad.

Jason

Bingo thanks Jason - that did the trick! Took me a few goes on the translate tool to find the back "center" of the first part to then translate to the front "center" point of the second part (and so on) ... but once I did it was easy! Thanks so much for your help (and the example file which was nicely aligned). Slowly I'm getting better at this! - Dave
