I'm helping my kid make a planet model that we'll 3D print. There are some high resolution images available for free online of the planet, a gas giant, so we're not talking about topography. I just want to map the image onto the sphere as a texture. He will color the model when it's printed, we just want it to have some shape other than pure sphere, that's somewhat related to the actual look of the planet.
I have ViaCad Pro v16, with Power Pack. Can someone provide step by step instructions for how to do this? I've tried googling it and the dumb AI response sends me down a rabbit hole of things that don't seem to exist in the UI. Even the Copilot AI within Viacad is telling me to select things that aren't there. I usually make more technical parts, rather than this sort of thing, so if someone can explain to me like I'm 5 I'd appreciate it.
And in case you're wondering, my kid is in 5th grade so of course the planet he chose is Uranus.
(and yes, there is a 3D model out there but it only maps the texture on about 1/3 of the sphere so it looks weird when printed.
thanks
