How do I assign material type and price to BOMS???

It seems to calculate dimensions and volumes of a part, and that's about it... Does someone know how this function works?

Thanks

With Verify> Properties can you define the Materials, and with Windows> Attributes BOM can you create the BOM. But how you can add prices i dont know.

That's very helpful, thank you. You can then assign prices within the BOM/Attribute, but I want this assigned to material weight.

You can make your own bom by making a copy of one of the boms in the bom folder. The BOM folder should be located at C:\Program Files\Punch!Software\SharkFX\ or something similar.

Use the Notepad program to open your new BOM file and change the BOM file any way you want. Just make sure when you open the BOM file to select all file types instead of txt file types so you can see the BOM files.
Enter the fields as follows.

BOM Name
field name, field type
Field2 name, field2 type
Field3 name, field3 type

You can look at the other boms in the BOM folder with notepad to see the different field types. You can make it a "price" field type for prices and "pricesum" to add up the prices.

Save the BOM with a bomname.BOM and not as a .txt file. Make sure this file is located in the BOM folder.
Materials are selected (in V10) through Verify menu, Properties.
If you use the "name" field type then you can name the parts using the inspector under attributes.

When you are ready to create your BOM. Open the Attributes/BOM window. (You may have to close and reopen Viacad to see your new BOM dataset in the attributes/BOM window.) Select a part or multiple parts and type in the price for those. Once you enter all the info click apply to selected. Do this for every part. Then Create BOM to make the BOM list.
