Hi, no matter what I do and how perpendicular my lines are to the centre line I get this error. What am I doing wrong?

I'll try and get a picture up later. Basically a circle, line perpendicular to it, then a spline wiggly to another line which is perpendicular to a square shape. The wiggly and perpendicular lines are joined, so both shapes have a perpendicular line coming off them, throws up this error. If I select yes, it thinks for a while and does a surface which makes it impossible to turn the model round, really slows it down

I've made a test file, basically two circles, two lines perpendicular to the circles, and a spline in the middle. They are all separate at the moment, but if you join them and then try it I get the error.
Cheers

It is still not clear what you are trying to do with these lines

So I started with 2 circles set a distance back from each other, joined with a straight line from centre to centre. Then used the centreline tool and it worked fine.
I've then moved one circle in one direction, and now joined the two circles with the 3 separate lines. If we join those 3 lines I get the perpendicular error. I haven't joined them in the example file so you can see they are both at 90 degrees before we start

I like that the file created with 11. version cannot be opened in the old one(I use SharkCAD Pro 10). Most software has long got rid of this disease. Or is it intentional? Very interesting.

Yeah proper ache, even on the starter files it does it and they are saved as a .dat?!?!
Anyway I've attached a version 10 file, but do you have the centreline skin function ?

No, the 10. Shark does not have that. But this does not mean that the file should not open.
For example, the old version can skip any unsupported features or freeze NURBs data etc...
But just say it is "incompatible"? I have not seen this for a long time.

Hello The program has never allowed opening of files in versions older than the file was saved in. That is why there is file export as ViaCAD /Shark and you can pick the version so it can be opened in older versions of the program. Regards Jason

There are no lines in this file only 3 planes
The v11 file showed the three lines you were interested in as continuous and I had no problems joining them with join curve tool.

Yeah we join them, then try the using them as the guide for centreline sweep, the new function in version 11. Although that's interesting that was a open file, export to version 10, and it's not taken the lines with it!

Yes. :) Thanks, I did not know that I can export native files. I had no need to do this. It is not usual. And by the way, I did not see the opportunity to export to ViaCad from Shark. Although in fact *.sfx and *.vcp are same files with different extensions. This makes communication very difficult. Although... vC/Shark is not very common software.

Is there a Demo for ViaCad 11 Pro? I have the PC Beta, and as of yet, there is no centerline sweep icon that I am aware of. Larry

ViaCAD 2D3D/Pro natively opens Shark's .sfx files of the same or earlier version, likewise Shark opens ViaCAD 2D3D/Pro files as native, they also interchange natively with TurboCAD Mac's .tcd files. I expect that TurboCAD Mac opens PunchCAD files too. On the basis of all of those permutations, it wouldn't surprise if there's commonality amongst all of those with Ashlar/Vellum/Cobalt files too. Almost a de facto neutral format.

The icon is inside the ruled surface icon. You click it and get the extra tool bar and its in there. Swoopy looking thing

Replaced your lines with a spline, seemed to work.
Answered yes to the line pop up.

I have changed the joined lines to the other options, but not drawn over the lines with a spline, is this what you did?

I just did an approximate draw over of your lines, nothing precise. Larry
