Check if "File > Preferences... > Filing > Save as V7SP1 Format" is activated. If yes, disable it to avoid further issues in this area. Norbert

Hi la mouche A suggestion for next time. As I progress with a lot of work in ViaCad I "save as" continually because I've had the same thing happen to me. I'll save as Model1 then save as model2 then after more work is done I'll save as Model 1 and over write. So what I'm doing is continually updating a back up file. Also look in the folder where you've been saving and see if windows made a .bak file. Chuck

thank you Chuck. But this procedure I already do. before the bug. and backup files are also broken. My strat©gy: folder for the project "project Beug" and save to file: "Beug1" and after 30 minutes: Beug2 after 30 minutes: Beug3 --- Beug4 etc. Antoine

Hi Antoine, Have you tried opening in another version of Shark? If you have one or more that are patched and unpatched, see if you can open. If lucky, you might, then save as various formats that are ViaCad or Shark formats that won't lose your layers and other attributes. Good Luck!

Hi Antoine
When I need to make a number of 3D parts and I think certain operations might corrupt the file I'll go ahead and make the parts one by one and save each file/part separately. Then when done I bring all the parts into an assembly file if needed. If one of the files is corrupted, even if it opens I wouldn't bring the part into an important assembly file because more than likely it will bring it's problems along with it. If the problem is a part that has a lot of work done on it try and export it as a solid such as iges and then import that into your assembly file.
Creating tricky objects in a file with lots of work already done in it is a risky undertaking to say the least.

I'm having an issue as well. I cannot open the file itself or the backups. They are all corrupt. I think when you are getting backup as corrupt then the software should be reevaluated. This has never happened before but I'm not sure whether defining my own workplane has anything to do since I've never used it but on this project I did and that was the last thing different I have done in drafting my project.
