Maybe I'm missing something in the UI, but this is driving me nuts.

I have a curve that is a relatively complex product (admittedly likely because I don't know what I'm doing) that I've projected from 3-space back to 2-space to then create a shell that is compatible with the curve (think a box and a lid, but the lid and the box are goofy shaped).

So, now I have the outline of the lid in 2 space and I want to extrude it into 3 space and then create a closed shell.

No can do. No solution found. Yet, no clues are given where my extrusion has gone off the rails.

OK. Fine. I'll just inset the curve in 2-space, extrude it into 3-space, then put a cap on the bottom.

"There are overlapping curves. Remove and try again." (sic.)

But ViaCAD *never shows me the danged offending curves!*

Is there some magical vulcan key combo I can punch to show the overlapping curves? Some kind of first aid mode?

Thanks,

(Yes, going a bit batty here).

this is a long term source of frustration. It did almost work well at one point - but has since degraded. Hopefully the team can take a look at this problem afresh !

For finding overlapping curves or gaps, I'll often use Select Chain from the Edit menu while in the Arrow tool. Where the chain stops selecting is typically where the problem is.

Tim,

Is there a bug tracker somewhere to which I can file bugs and, hopefully, attach example documents in the state that triggers the bug?

Actually, it strikes me that the forum would work pretty well in that the various workarounds posted would help the bug filer greatly.

So, to rephrase: If we have a document in a particular troublesome state, what is the best way to capture the document such that the software can improve and the knowledge can be shared?

Thanks again -- your support and the community's willingness to help is a huge net win for the product!
