For me it doesn't work well. No matter where I select the splines or the line, the result is always the red circle on the picture.
I'm using FX9 1192 on Win7

Tim-

is "6" good, bad, in the tested/verified range, .........?

what's the word from Encore?? they've had two days! more importantly, when will a tested/verified Three Tangent Circle tool update for 1192 be available? I'm dead in the water until there's a Three Tangent Circle tool that works with splines.

>>what's the word from Encore??

It failed for them as well. I'm private emailing you an installer with a hot fix from Spatial/ACIS that corrects the problem.

Tim -

SharkFX9_1193_SP3_R25_ESD is a major step forward in resolving the problems with the Three Tangent Circle tool, but I'm guessing there's still work to be done. most importantly, the desired circle can now be drawn with the Three Tangent Circle tool in both the cases in my project. that said, the "Vertex" (ie: tangent) can only be located/selected on one side of each circle ignoring the tangent point to the line. on the other side of one of the circles the only point that can be located/selected is labeled "Intersect"; on the other circle nothing can be located/selected in the vicinity of tangent point. in the near term, the Mirror tool can be used to establish the missing "Vertex" (aka: tangent) as required.

the seemingly anal preoccupation with selecting the exact "Vertex"/tangent point is being driven by the required future use of multiple curves dictated by the Loft Surface tool. imposing common location and slope at the mating ends of all of the curve segments will hopefully avoid the problems encountered during a previous attempt at using trial & error derived approximate tangent points (ie: R to four places to the right of the decimal point).

ps: have you identified what "extra's" you have installed or preferences that enabled you to make the posted Three Tangent Circle tool video with 1192 while the rest of us couldn't make it work?

Hi Art
Using the build I sent you, I am able to find all four case. Video below showing the locations I picked.

Tim-

agree! what I can not yet locate/select is the "Vertex" (ie: tangent point) on both splines (only one)............ the tangent point is crucial for creating/trimming curves with matching ends (both location and slope). given my limited experience with the Loft Surface tool, it gets very unsociable with anything other than perfectly matching curves.
