I'm trying to determine the pcd of a circular series of 5 bolt holes irregularly spaced on a casting. I've measured the distance between adjacent bolt holes & want to draw them up to work out the pcd of the bolts. How can I do it? - ViaCAD 2D 3D V9
Thanks, Bernie

You say "irregularly spaced" which I'm assuming to mean at irregular angles on the same pitch circle. If that's so, three point circle through any three centres will do it.

Thanks Murray but how do I set the 3 points? I have 3 measurements and can draw the lines between them but how do I position them?

What I mean is - how can I position the 3 points so they are all at the measured distances from each other; before I create the 3 point circle?

Draw a line with the distance between two holes that have a third between them. Draw circles with radius the distance between outside and middle hole centres, the intersection is on the pitch circle. Those three will give you the pitch circle centre. Use the same two-circle routine to find the remaining holes' centres.
