Can I just say how poor the activation procedure is. I changed my hd to a ssd and just cloned the whole disk. I also use Turbocad which did not need reactivation.
If I did need activation it is pretty simple. You just copy a code ito the website and striaght away you can use the programme.

When I restarted Viacad I could not use as the code is generated using the HD serial which has just changed.
No grace period it just stops working. Why cant you paste the code somewhere and generate a key?
No you have to go to support which may be OK in the USA but not in the UK.It does not stop real piracy but just alienates legitimate owners.
Come on in this day and age surely its not beyond reason to make things easier.

Another thing puts me off buying another copy of punchcad is the restriction of just one copy allowed. Turbocad allows two copies.

I use ViaCAD 2D/3D as well as ViaCAD Pro. I am addicted to (and love) these programs.

I am 100% opposed to software piracy. The work that goes into the programs is incredible, and somehow people think they have a right to steal them.

Based on the above paragraph, I understand why companies (or individuals) want to try to protect their hard work from thieves. However, for those of us who have purchased legal/legitimate licenses, it frustrates me to no end that if I change a hard-drive (or whatever piece of hardware) that I have to contact the company to get the software to work again. If there is a delay, my work is also delayed.

Many years ago, I complained to a company about the need to contact same company for future installations of some software I had purchased if I upgrade my computer, buy a new one etc. (NOT ViaCAD). I said I worried about what I would do if the company "disappeared" for any reason. They (politely) told me that my concerns were not warranted. The company no longer exists. Guess where that now leaves me.

Anyway, I needed to vent a bit. I don't know what the solution may be, but I am concerned about the dreaded "fingerprint error" or anything that is going to cause a delay in my ability to run a program for which I have purchased a legitimate license.

Thanks for listening...I sure wish I could provide a workable solution...

I'm a fan of the Shark License (Mac/PC, desktop, laptop, work, home). I've been advocating internally to use that license for ViaCAD as well as Shark. Will keep promoting it….

Regarding the fingerprint issue, Encore has development hustling an update before Win 10 is released that replaces this registration scheme.

Hi Guys,

Had an email from enore on the Monday with a code with cleared to issue. The problem is with the two days on the weekend that support doesn't cover.

Another issue is the fact that licence only covers 1 computer where the majority owns more than one computer.

Wouldn't it be better to license per user ie only one copy running at one time such as Turbocad.
If a user needs more than one copy offer a reduced
price on a new copy.

Hi Edgar

>>The problem is with the two days on the weekend that support doesn't cover.

The upcoming service pack replaces that DRM system. Encore is hustling to get it out before Windows 10 is released.

>>Another issue is the fact that licence only covers 1 computer where the majority owns more than one computer.

I have suggested they at least provide an option to the Shark License which covers Mac/PC, Home,Work, & Laptop.

I'll keep trying!
