2D Walls won't automatically heal when adding a new wall

Ok, I'm getting frustrated. I've watched the wall tutorial, read the forums and the software does not behave the way the tutorial says it does. I've drawn a perimeter, exterior wall 4" thick. When I try to add interior partition walls that are 2 1/2" thick (no idea if the fact that the walls are different thicknesses makes a difference - I've tried adding 4" interior walls too and the same thing happens), they do not insert into the other walls. I tried trimming and nothing happens.
How do I get the walls to merge so to speak?
Thanks,
Erik

I can but I'm not seeing a way to attach a file when replying.
Erik
I figured it out. I guess I have to post, then attach.

Doors won't break the walls anymore either. These feel like bugs. Is there a way to rebuild a file? Perhaps it is corrupt? New entities such as symbols are not coming in on top so I have to place them outside the drawing and change them to the front or they disappear into the background.

Hi Erik The Auto Wall Intersect only looks for walls in the same layer. One of the ways you manage different floors is through layers. I'll need to investigate if using sub layers could still support multiple floors while allowing layering between interior & exterior walls. Tim

Ok thanks. I've used several other CAD programs on Windows, but this one just seems to be difficult to navigate. When I pull a wall sometimes I can get the tab to work so I can enter a length and other times it just refuses to accept a number or the Quotes for inches jumps to the front for no explainable reason. I had hoped it would be easier. Erik

If you come across some repeatable steps where it fails let me know.
You can also modify the wall length from the Inspector.
