                Hi! I use a viaCad Pro 9. Has anyone any idea how to make a spherical Helix.

                I think I have it.
Using the Helix Spline tool, create two paths one of a small diameter, and an outer of a diameter greater than the diameter of your finished part.
Extrude a spiral surface between these two helixes.
Create a surface sphere of the diameter that you want your final sphere to be (minus the radius of your wire).
Use the spiral surface to cut the sphere surface.
Use the Explode Curve tool to create a spherical helix that follows the path of the cut on the sphere.
Finally use the extrude pipe tool to create a rod that follows the spherical helix path that you created.

                 Nick very clever approach!  I noticed the surface was a bit heavy as  a 2 rail sweep and found a ruled surface lighter. Tim

                Many thanks to @NickB.  I have seen a similar solution in SolidWorks. But did not think, how can I use this method in viaCAD. My mistake was. Yes. The two rail sweep was really funky, but it looked good enough to get a very good approximation of a spiral.
