SharkFX9 , how does one implement a linear taper of round tubing in 3D-space??
for instance: 2.500" OD to 1.375" OD in 30" (path length in 3D space, 2.500" CL radius)

You can do it with a two rail sweep. Draw first circle, then a 30 inch line from the center of that circle projecting in the direction you want to go. Draw the second circle at the end of your line, then connect the vertices of the two circles, finally do a two rail sweep. Alternate method would be to extrude with draft, but that requires working out the angles.

the curved parts of the tube are what's presenting the problem. draft angles and diameters along the envisioned tube and the straight sections of the tube are straight forward. a four point polygon spun on-axis gets you the outside of the tube and the same approach is easy enough to remove the center leaving the "tapered" tube......
diminishing radius curve???? curved center line lathe tool???? tapered extrude along a curved path????
imagine a French Horn (the musical instrument); variable diameter curved flow path....

Hi Art, I can offer two suggestions. (a) Use the cone tool to produce a solid cone, then shell it; (b) Draw a plane section of the cone wall, then revolve (lathe) it around an axis. I hope I have understood your query correctly! Regards, Ian.

                You mean something like this?
This was made with the skinning solid tool and adjusting the sizes of the forming circles, then shelling the form.

                BillB-
thanks!! figured out the "skinning"; still need to work on wall thickness. there also seems to be a need for a little optimization on the number of cross-sections included to eliminate the waviness in the cones. it may be easier to just make the cones and connect them with skinned curve sections.........
