The Edit: Change Object Type uses the standard stitcher and has limits.
I am creating an add-on to ViaCAD that adds another stitcher (from IntegrityWare) and options to simplify if possible.

Hello Andreas
In the lower left corner is an "Attach files to this post?" check box.

Hello Andreas
Based on the organic shape of the file, I decided to use the SubD to NURB tool in PowerPack.
But since it was all unstructured triangles, I first used 3D-Coat's auto topo command to convert into quads. For a file such this, you will need to remesh.
Once converted, I was able to create a nice water tight NURB solid.
Below is a link to the resulting ViaCAD file. (99994 triangles ->63482 quads ->764 NURB face solid)

Hello Tim, thank you very, very much ! one last question: could you send me the link for downloading / buying the PowerPack. I can only find the site, where all the features are listed. Andreas

Hi Tim. I have a PNG. FILE of an image that I want to import into VIACAD. I am able to doso, but how do I attach the image onto the top of my material of 3"x3"x1.5" in VIACAD? I want to attach it to the top, then extrude the image so that I can sink it into my material, so that I can machine that image shape into my material, for example; like if I were to machine a logo in aluminum.

ViaCAD does not have a tool that converts an image into 3D. Some possible options for you:
• Read the image into ViaCAD and trace over with curves as a basis for your 3d model
http://www.csi-concepts.com/Demo/videos/Tracing.mp4 • Try one of the free scan to dxf apps to get outlines which you can extrude
• If it is an Illustrator file, convert to paths and export as in the tutorial below
http://www.csi-concepts....tutorials/AITutorial.pdf Good luck!
