Is there a tool to reduce the points on this curve? (#2672)

I'm using ViaCAD Pro 5 (750).
Is there a tool to reduce the points on this curve or should I just redraw it?

Try Edit:Change Object Type to Interpolate spline.
Or
Smooth curve with a low tolerance setting.
You may also want to look at the Spline:Remove Point command.

Tried : Change object type to interpolate spline Result : Nearly the same amount of points with different spacingTried : Smooth Curve with tolerance of 0.1 Result : Same amount of points with different spacingTried : Remove point tool Result : Looked for pairs of closely-spaced points and removed one, until point spacing was more even, then removed every third point. Process could be time consuming and shape can change a lot. Tried : Draw interpolated spline on top and tweak to match original curve Result : Process is pretty fast and mostly retains shape. Does require more curve editing skill and attention. Also found that converting the curve to Control Point Spline helps to get the final shape tweaks near the end. Thanks for your suggestions. It helped me to decide what method to use in general. Am I right that there is no explicit Rebuild Curve function?

You can rebuild by raising the order, but rebuilding with a lower order, ie removing points, lowers the resolution of the curve and will alter the shape.

How do you raise and lower the order of curves?

Depends which product. I've access to the Shark beta right now, it has automated tools, elevate curve and smooth curve, in the curve editing toolbar. I've also got VC 2D/3D and that has add point and remove point, how smooth or accurate I get it depends largely on me....

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][COLOR="Black"][SIZE="4"]With a curve/line selected look at the object info dialog box. That box can be opened by double clicking object in this case a curve/line. Click on the attributes tab and at the bottom of that dialog box there are two drop down boxes called "arrow start" and "arrow end". I found this a neat tool for annotating drawings. Using different skewed lines or even straight lines for that matter I use the tool to stick arrows on it's ends. Also with interpolate spline selected look in the object info box under the data tab there is a tool that controls the start and end angle of the spline. It's also a handy tool.
