Just as a pointer to some new features that are being added to other software, I thought I'd post a link. http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=4363.124

It would be nice to have in ViaCAD :)

Isn't MOI a facet modeller ? Isn't it akin to Maya ?

I'm not sure it's comparable to ViaCAD

Be good to understand this

Is MoI competitive software or complementary?

MoI is a NURBS modeller - not as feature-rich as ViaCAD yet, but does do things very nicely.

billbedford.

It depends on what you want to do. I see it as competition as its power is steadily on the increase.

Check out its online command reference for more details.

So is it based on a geometry engine like Acis or Parasolids - or are they going their own way like Rhino does ?

It's written by Michael Gibson who's the same chap that wrote Rhino and as far as I'm aware, it uses the IntegrityWare kernel.

Michael quite often recommends ViaCAD for certain tasks that aren't covered by MoI and I wouldn't be surprised if he got some inspiration from ViaCAD.
