Demonstration movie with audio showing the Concepts Unlimited 3D to 2D drawing tools used to automate the process of creating precise 2D drawings from 3D models. This movie begins by dragging a PRO/E file into CU, generating a drawing with standard views, and sharing the drawing with Adobe Illustrator.

Hi there, I'm using ViaCad and have a question regarding this. First let me say that the MtoS feature is VERY nice. However, once done, is there a way to go back to the 3d item? It seems that once the MtoS is done, your stuck with it. Also, what about moving the parts around in the view ports or zooming them? It appears that the only options are on the drop down menu when you click on the upper-left of the view port. Thanks

                >>is there a way to go back to the 3d item? Each sheet is put into a layer and isolated. To display the original 3D item, display Concepts explorer (Window:Concepts Explorer) and hit the layer tab. Then display the layer that the original object was in, and turn off the sheet layer. >>what about moving the parts around in the view ports or zooming them? You resize the viewport boundary using the arrow tool along the edges of the view. Use the propertes Scale to change the size of the object in the viewport.

Thank you very much for this Tim. Learning curves ya'know??? :-)
Still WAY better then the trash that is AutoCad, that's for sure.
On the viewport question, I think it would be a helpful benefit for the scroll wheel zoom to take precedence in a selected viewport. Something to consider.

                >>Learning curves ya'know??? It's not obvious to go to layers so I completely understand the question. I'm not sure though how to make it more apparent. Ideas welcome. >>I think it would be a helpful benefit for the scroll wheel zoom to take precedence in a selected viewport. Yup, I agree. Same goes for rotating the view in draw views via middle button.

I'm not sure either, but I'll give it some thought, however; it's not even referenced in the users guide section about MtoS, nor is it in the tutorials, so might be somewhat helpful to change.
Good to hear about the view ports... keep it up!!!

Tim, Old thread I know, but I've just made a part that is only 25.4mm in diameter (1"). Modelled in VC, and then using the MtoS tool, I've chosen 'best fit' like suggested, however when I come to dimension the drawings, dimensioning arrows are enormous- because they need to be reset to the smaller size of the object. Am I doing something wrong here, or is would it be an idea to suggest a fix so that these sizes are adjusted to coincide with the 'best fit' settings? It would save an awful lot of time. Antoine, just for the books, why aren't you using SFX v5.5? I understood 5.5 was a free upgrade?
