One thing I really miss from SolidWorks in VC or Shark when sketching is the line extend tool. Am I missing something here, or is there another way of doing this apart from the obvious (ie using the line tool just to extend from an end-of-line point)?

Tom

Checkout the Trim tool for basic extending. However if you are looking to extend a line which doesnt actually intersect at the destination then it doesnt work. Like in Rhino "apparent intersections" is switchable, you would need to use corner trim for this :(

I believe we have some extend tools coming through....maybe Tim can show a preview ?

be great to be able to extend by right-clicking on a line or spline endpoint

Not as good as a real extend tool, but in some circumstances you could select the line endpoint, then use the translate tool.

I have that tool mapped to the M key so anytime I want to move something it becomes incredibly easy and intuitive.

Yes, I tried this, but have had no joy :(

I loved in SW's where you moved the tool over any line, and it would extend to the next intersect- but just like SW's nothing happened if there was nothing to intersect with.

The translate (then copy via option key) tool don't seem to work either :?

Tom - Post your geometry as an example to improve the tool.

Fot those interested...here is a snippet of extend using smart tracking in Rhino:
