I am looking to do some simple animations (rotations, translations, explosions, etc)

Are there any tutorials or tips and tricks using the animation tools and quick time exports in CU?

Thanks,
Gary T

Same question.
I downloaded free versions of DAZ Studio 1.8.1.5, EIAS662, Bryce 5.5...
They are all extremely buggy with Leopard !
Any suggestion for quick mechanical animations ?
Thanks,
JL

The best thing you could get, also from Daz, is Carrara. The Carrara 3D Express is an excellent introductory level version. (Bryce and DAZ Studio don't compare to the more comprehensive Carrara 3D apps)

http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/softwa...arrara_3dx/-/comparison?

Should be of interest I hope.( I take iges or dxf files from ViaCad into the Vertex room of Carrara (6Pro) and manipulate the vertexes etc. In 6P one can do displacement painting--like the displacement brushing in say Z-Brush.)

I´m not sure if Cheetah works with Concepts files but it´s worth a look, since it´s cheap and as advertised should run under Leopard.

BTW: Free Version of EIAS 662? That would be too cool since i´m using 6.5.

Thank you BWTR.

When I look at Carrara galleries on their site, I see thousands of nice girls and a few monsters, but no bolt & screw, no cog wheel...

Is it really a convenient tool to make a mechanical animation (translations, rotations, cams...) ?

JL - you need to have a chat with your clients - see if you can interest them in a mythical dragon or a robot chic with nipple lasers or something

Hi Stephan,
I tried Cheetah : great software, good import from Shark (.obj), but not really suitable for mechanical stuff...

About EIAS :

662 free to trial... or is it a mistake ?

Some of the FREE lots of plugins available for Carrara.
There is a free trial down load of the Carrara 5 version--you may/will be surprised at what it can do--especially the Pro version.

Hi again (and sorry for the late reply...)

Was my mistake didnt thought about the demo...;-)

BTW. have you seen this demo showing a mechanical animation, done with EIAS. Maybe the new Vers. 7.0 supports Leopard better.

Stefan
