When will all of the VIACAD products be come MAC OS X Lion compatible ?? At present only VIACAD 2d is listed as being compatible. I would really like to move on to the new Lion system, but I can™t because I am a big VIACAD 2d 3d PRO user.

I think they are - they're all from the same code stream. Perhaps Tim needs to qualify this - but I've read that some are using it on Lion Whether it takes advantage of autosave and so on under Lion - that's another thing. Not sure if that helps - perhaps Lion users can jump in (I'm still on SL only because my Mac doesn't qualify)

All current products should be fine. We had to redo the trials due to some changes in Lion permissions. Additionally, ViaCAD 2D/3D v8 is certified by Apple, which was required to get into the app store. They ran it through quite a few tests and it took us several weeks of changes to get it to pass. Tim

Thank you all for your for your replies. This should let me move forward to Lion. Tim, I think Apple needs to up-date the Loin compatibility list regarding your CAD products.

Have Viacad Pro v6. Upgraded to Lion and now it won't Run. Registered for the trial of Viacad Pro v7 to see if that might work. It doesn't. It installs but when I get to the Register screen it hangs. (spit)

No. There is only one account. It is the Admin account.
When launching Viacad Pro v7 the application starts up to the Registration screen. I fill in the name field then the company field (the serial number field is already populated) and then click the run trial button but it simply refreshes the form emptying the name and company field. The exit button quits the app and the buy button takes you to punchcad.com.

Hello Tim,
Thank you for your suggestion. I'll try that again. I called them in March of 2011 regarding another issue. (See my posts from that time frame.) No one answered the phone so I left a message. I never did hear back from them.
Regards,
Rick

Hi Rick
If that fails again, private email me at
[email protected] and I have something else we can do to make it right.

Hi Tim,
Thank you. I did leave a message with tech support today. They called me back within 20 minutes (woohoo). They said that the trial download link for Viacad Pro v7 for Mac had the wrong build linked to it. They sent me an email with the correct build (968). I have downloaded it and am happy to report that it launches fine. I'll take it for a spin to see how it works under Lion.
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Rick

After moving to Lion, some things do not work properly. For instance, the export function is unpredictable. You can't export a jpg for instance. jpgs are coming out blank. The export to .obj files only likes the unix flavor only. Only then can I export. Forget .stl, if the part is too big, the file will not convert properly. At least I have not been able to view the converted file in an external viewer without crashing the viewer. I use glc_viewer. sometimes I have to use .ascii versus binary other times neither will work. Not to rant, I make a living from using fx8 for its environment, which I love but some of the export features need improvement especially the 3d .stl which seems to govern the future in personal printing.
