Hello Forum,

I've followed the forum for years without directly contributing and am a heavy Shark user. I've just purchased a new Mac Pro which should be a significant upgrade from my MacBook Pro. I also ordered a 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator. Is this supported in FX? I can return it if not. Have others had experience with it? Some of my friends have said it's great. Curious if it'll work.

Thanks, Rama

Hi Rama,

You will need Shark FX 5.5. We went through certification with 3dconnexion on two devices for mac (Spacenavigator and Spaceexplorer).

ViaCAD 2D/3D V6 supports SpaceNavigator. V5 does not.

Thanks for the feedback. Bending is fun to explore. Bending along a curve also produces some very interesting shapes.

I made a quicktime movie in CU showing it applied to making a ring.

http://www.csi-concepts.com/Demo/RingBend.mov

This feature is in Shark LT, Shark, Shark FX and ViaCAD Pro.

Your bend ring is very nice! Feel free to post in the gallery, I'm sure others will find it interesting!

Thanks Tim, your film over bending is very good. It shows exactly, what up I looked in ViaCad
Can one select the bending path also inside?. My idea is that the ring size does not change, if I change material thickness

Anyway, i should upgrade.
What would you suggest? ViaCad Pro (i can not find an upgrade version from ViaCad ) or one of the Sharks ( better later, too expensively in the moment for me)

The path can be inside/outside wrt to body.

The current version of ViaCAD Pro is V5 where V6 is scheduled for Feb. If you wanted to get on the current code stream (8xx) sooner, you may want to look into Shark LT.

MMMh,
where is the tool 'curve bend' in Shark LT ?
i placed a question in the store. What they can offer to me.

back to the thread: I bought the 3dconnexion spacenavigator. It works fine.
But i could not find an easy way to navigate with the spacenavigator and select multible ( severel ) objects. as it is necessery to use the keyboard/an mouse, so i did before.

Is it possible in ViaCad to make own keyboard shortcuts ? in the special one : Group/ungroup and show workplane/change workplanes.

maybe someone is interested in my bendingring see the file.
Another thing i discovered in this file: how easy it is to change the sequence in the features ( history ).
File Attachment(s):
bendring.vc3 (802kb) downloaded 4 time(s).
awieneke attached the following image(s):
where_is_the_tool.jpg (14kb) downloaded 4 time(s).
