The Punch!ine is that at least some of us here abandoned said Alternative Product precisely because said Company kept making promises that they couldn't keep.

I would love to see an early beta for SharkFX V6 at MacWorld SF...

God help us. Ashlar seem to have completely lost the plot.

An engineer I know has just bought Shark after I showed it to him. He was seriously impressed and had never heard of it.

I'll let someone else that more knowledgeable about the history of Tim and Ashlar. I found out about Concepts Unlimited due to press releases regarding the split, and here I am. I probably still have a key to Vellum Solids somewhere.

According to the Ashlar website, a brand new Intel-optimised version of Cobalt has just been released (11th December 2008).

This must be great news right?! I thought Ashlar Vellum on Mac was dead?

Okay- it does work- although the first time round it crashed.

There is much to say for your 'tool eye-candy' in the Shark family. AV has none of this- ie it looks just like AV of old- which of course ain't a bad thing.

There's been a lot of shake-ups here at work, and for the past month or so I haven't been in the best of moods (oh, you can tell can you? ;) ). No creative work makes Tom a bad boy- so I'm probably not the best person to ask for an opinion right now. But, try it. Download the demo. There's no harm in that is there?

The Caveat, as they say, is that Cobalt is (or was) about as pricey as base SW.

(Like Punch!) .. I'm no marketeer .. but doesn't Punch! want to do what every other vendor at Macworld - and take the last opportunity to get a press release out there !

Every Mac developer - including the CAD devs - has a press release out there today

Hell - FormZ announces version 6.2.3 .. or something

Autodesk is all over the web

SolidThinking are doing an expose

.. anything from the mighty Punch! ?

squeak ?

Well, there's this:

http://architosh.com/2009/01/mw...landscape-design-studio/

But the "check out Punch online" link takes you to the home designer stuff, and there is no obvious connection to speak of to their other products (for a possible upsell).

So, when one goes to the Punch store, it says in the url, "full_store" but ViaCAD and Shark do not appear.

http://www.punchsoftware.com/full_store.html

Why is that? The punchcad.com store only sells ViaCAD and Shark...and not some of the home design products.

Should they be together, or does the division keep the product lines less diluted?

Just wondering.
