When you join 2 splines, the resultant spline is a veritable cookie carrying ant trail of points; a congo hell party from space; JL's world record breaking onion string

It's an entirely unclickable, over complicated spline that will doubtless cause you problems later .. when you want to blend or shell a solid made from this horrid peice of geometry

Did I make my point yet (I've got a string of them)

Can we offer an alternate and more useful behaviour in the connect tool .. to convert the spline to something useful .. even if an approximation must be made

In other works, please automatically 'change object type' for us back to a regular usable spline
