Here's a problem we've all had Extruding - for example - a profile A failing profile (gaps, overlaps and non-planar) - finding the problem - and fixing it - is often a pain in the ASS ! Please can we see more help / feedback / active support in correcting profiles for further processing I suggest every failing profile should invoke a profile manager - which can report EXACTLY and GRAPHICALLY what™s wrong with the profile in question

yes, +1 on that issue! The gap problem is also difficult to see (the marker is kinda small and it disappears when we move/close the dialog box).

I 3rd'nd that. I have had a number if imported meshes that were seemingly great, yet after turnign to surfaces, and turnign on the points, I could see some faces angling in, yet it took much zooming to uncover other edges not coincident. This did tell me that my original pre-imported part had some geometry with too many tight intersections or facets, and reduction of them helped. But, still...

overlapped and duplicate objects delete tool will be great to support this suggestion just as rhino does Luis G.

I've found I have much fewer problems if I invoke a work plane snap when drawing the profile.

A duplicate objects tool would certainly get my vote too. Nick

I think there must be a whole load of checks that could be run on a profile - look for points and very tiny lines with zero or effectively zero length (I seem to get from Illustrator imports sometimes - so small you cant see them) - look for duplicate curves - out of planar / tangent control is out of planar / tangent control has zero length - mal-aligned tangents that will cause cusping and other problems down the road - gaps - AND OFFER TO FILL with straight line, tangent continuity (G1) or curvature continuity (G2) - offer a best guess - to fix it automagically and move on more thoughts required
