It wouldn't be a bad idea to include a preference switch for a second set ... but it would then mean maintaining 2 sets of icons and also shipping an extra 80Mb of graphics with each build

A better solution would be ... in the same way that the blue modifying graphic sits behind a given graphic to show that tool is current ... a modifying graphic could sit above each graphic. This could universally turn all icons desat or pink - or whatever it is people want

Personally I'm ok with them how they are
