Lots of views but no answer. Problem still exists, I am using XP . I am considering buying another copy of Viacad to run on another machine on Windows 7. Does anyone else have this problem and would switching to Win7 cure it?

you can post the exact/full error message sothat a problem evaluation might be possible.

Norbert,
I decided to take the bull by the horns and purchased a v8 upgrade which I have installed on another PC running Win 7 so problem should be solved but for your information, from memory, the error report mentioned C++.

than maybe the MS Visual C++ 2005 x86 Runtime installation - which is launched by the VC/SFX setup during installation - has failed, maybe because of missing user rights especially under W7/8.

running the VC/SFX setup by "right-click > run as admin" should avoid this type of problem.

hth,
Norbert
