Sorry to rant, but I have been trying the lessons in the manual and they point to menus that don't exist!!! I bought this thing and I can't draw a straight line with it!!! I have used other simple cad programs with no problem, but nothing is done in the same manner, and I'm getting frustrated. I tried the lesson where you load a file from the help menu, it says from the scale menu, and shows how to flatten it. Where's the scale menu? I have 2d3d V8 CR

I think you need the tool palette. You can then switch between 2d or 3d. Happy cad'ng.

I would start by reading the pdf manual. Search for scale. They are many ways to do it.

Ok I'm new but not an idiot! I did a search of the whole pdf manual, and it doesn't explain where these menus are.

Take a look at the tutorials under Help within ViaCAD.The User Interface tutorial shows how to access the icons that are hidden from view, as well as explain some of the basics. Martin.

Hey, I was trying to help.. You can search the forums for videos on scale in general. I'm sure something will turn up.

The tools your are looking for; Translate (Move), Scale, Mirror, etc are referred to as the XForm (Transform) palette of tools. Hope this helps. John

Searching "scale" in the manual highlights and successively cycles through each instance of the word. It probably should be in the index under s for scale for unfamiliar users, but in the event it's under t for transformations.

Sometimes its tough to get an easy answer in a forum.
What I did, was watch the video tutorial for the interface,
then tore off the individual icons to see the features first hand.
Best way to do it, is to have no project in mind, and just play with
each tool to see what they do.
Cheers!

Page 4 of the user interface tutorial: To control 2D and 3D views 1. From the Help menu, choose Tutorials, then choose The User Interface from the submenu. 2. From the User Interface submenu, choose Model. The Model To Sheet dialog box appears, giving options to flatten your 3D drawing. The model to sheet dialog box never opens, drawing just loads to sheet. CR

HI CR
The model to sheet dialog appears if you are in 2d mode when opening a 3d model.
The 2d / 3d mode is toggled by pressing the button at the top of the tool palette.
The mode your in the "2d" or "3d" on the button turns white to show the mode.
Regards
Jason
