es there anyway to join arc an lines into a curve whit sharp vertices?

when i try to do this with join curve, even with tolerance to zero, the vertices join to a continuous targeted line, i don't want this, i want to make a net service with sharp corners.

I tried poly lines but it generate too much points.
please see the attached pictures so i can explain better.

I had that problem too in one project last year:\

Did anyone try the corner trim tool?

When we use the corner trim, they'll "joint" it but they're multiple pieces. We basically use this tool to join it into one piece. (In my case a post-process was to make a fancy surface and the particular surface tool didn't like too many lines/pieces all over and doesn't like a grouped line:\)

Sounds to me like you're looking for something like a polyline - which I'm not sure is fully supported in VC / Shark.

Silly question ... can you just group your lines instead ?

I've had problem here too.

Some tools (like Rail Revolve Surface) only seem to work with a single curve, so if you have a shape composed of lines and arcs etc, then they need to be joined first.

The upshot is that the shape changes and therefore any surface or solid thus created is different from that intented.

It would be nice to have something that can join connected curves but do not change the curve type or alter shape. More of a composite curve that can be joined as a continuous entity that can be exploded back to original curve types vs converting to a multi segemented polyline or changing to unwanted curve types

Shark/Viacad handle polylines in different way as other cad/3d software due that loose original geometry from the curve and generates to many points. look at the pics

Grouped lines work for some surfaces creation but not, for example, for net surface creation.

The VC/Shark lines menu offers the option to draw "Multi Lines"

Perhaps like a polygon, these should be either "smart" or "single" entities

(... and a change object type could be added to make up "Multi Lines" from a collection of lines)

If you want to join lines as a single entity, don't draw them connected. Trace over one of the lines, but shortened back from the intersection point, then join the shortened line to the original complementary. I captured some Jing to demonstrate: http://screencast.com/t/x5PIiJwLX6W. My first Jing! That is cool and I feel ridiculously pleased with myself...

What I want (and I need) is the ability to connect several lines and arcs together, where the vertex join between a line and an arc (or other curve as the splines) stays as vertex's point, (just as same way that polylines or group of curves), instead force the tangent's continuity on curve.

Hello Luis

>>do this with join curve...the vertices join to a continuous targeted line,

The result of a Join is a single G2 continuous curve. That is why you get a bulge when you join those two curves. The only exception is when joining lines, it will make a polyline.

>>i want to make a net service with sharp corners.

The Net Surface also creates a single G2 continuous surface. ACIS will display an error if you try to Net curves that are not continuous.

You may want to explore the Skin Surface. You can use curves that are not continuous within a section. The Skin Surface tool will create multiple faces depending on the section continuity.

To create a skin section with more than one curve, you will need to group the section.
