Grid surface import option creates a NURB surface from an M x N array of coordinates. How difficult would it be to give that macro import format the option to create a mesh instead? Marcus Bole's PolyCAD app does that, and it also has the capacity to convert from NURB surface to mesh or vice versa within the app. As well, the NURB surface created can use the coordinates as interpolation points or as weighted control points, I assume the difference is in surface degree/order.
