I made a model to sheet of an assembly, now I want to replace one of the parts with one of a different design. How is this done without starting over?

To add geometry to views, you can select the new item and use copy from menu. Then goto the draw views and select each one and use paste to add to the draw view. Have to do each one separate.

To remove a part you can delete the 3d part, once the draw views regen the deleted part is removed.

Jason

Jason, thank you for the fast reply. I did try this method but for some reason the pasted part did not show up in the view. Maybe I made some mistake, I'll have another go at it.

Thanks again

In the case of my assembly deleting the part in 3d will not remove the part from the generated sheet. Regenerating the views is not possible since they are "up to date". However pasting a new part into the views will remove the deleted part and add the new one. This must be a bug, I'll report to Tim.

Is there an item you can change like a diameter or length, and that will force the views to redraw.

If you toggle the manual regen option in the draw view properties from on to off, it will regen he view. It looks like its not regenerting the draw views when the resolve links happens. I would expect after deleting a object and resolving links would regen the draw views.

Jason, just found that out. It seems that if regen manually is not checked the view will not regenerate. I reported this as a bug.
