Hi Guys,

I waited a while to jump to 2D3D v9 and I'm surprised at the number of changes to the appearance—particularly the initial appearance of the line weights. But my major concern is the location of the file for USER generated Symbols. In v8 it was in Library > Application Support > com.encore.viacad3dv8. I had expected to find a comparable file for 2D3Dv9 but there is nothing anywhere like it. I thought I would try to save a simple test and try to find the location by Finder. Upon keying 'Save as Symbol' it opened up a pane to save in my Documents file, then, surprisingly, it told me that I didn't have permission to save into that file. Strange seeing that I have read and write permissions to my most used file structure. I would like to think that this might be something to do with my new operating system, having just upgraded to OS X Yosemite, also waiting until OS 10.10.1, to clear the initial bugs. But I have been using ViaCad from the beginning (and its predecessors) so I'm familiar with things going squiffy just when you think things have been sorted—especially Symbols, it took long enough to find the file in v8.

Does anyone know where they are hidden now as I have a great many Symbols that need to be available in v9 before I can use it fully?

Sorry guys, I posted this in an existing thread instead of starting a new one. Haven't been back to the forum for a while. I solved my problem with a little bit of digging around and a lot of trial and error. To set up your User Symbols it is simply a matter of setting up a file in your document file structured ViaCad > Symbols > User, after that I just copied my Symbols > User file from v8 and everything is up and running.

Next time I will watch were I'm putting my feet. ;)
