The manual says that you can replace an existing profile. But it doesn't give an example. The closest I got was right-clicking and "Replace profile." Then I lassoed the replacement shape. Instead of replacing the profile, the extrusion occurred at the new profile, leaving the old solid and old profile intact.

Even "you can't do that" would be useful.
