I need to model a left hemisphere of the brain. I'll admit I don't have much experience with surface modeling. But now I need to to pull off almost a walnut shell texture on a slightly more oval surface. any Ideas guy? Thanks, p

What is the final output for this brain object?

Cheat. MeshLab for Android has an .obj mesh of a brain as one of its samples. Failing that, a height field of a caustic material mapped onto a surface, which would be hard to do, impossible with PunchCAD only, I suspect.

Grabcad has a really good model sans texture. (open for use but need to include copyright -

http://grabcad.com/library/got-...dot-lol/files/brains.igs there I would approach it like a duck decoy. Covert to solid, draw texture on surface, then make a few chisels and extrude them along texture spline paths. subtracting chisel path after extrusion.
Also thought maybe taking texture path and making each enclosed section a surface, then inflating mini surfaces.
I lean towards duck decoy approach, but I draw how I make things- not the best approach to cad, but my brain works that way.
I would cheat on drawing the texture, and draw it on paper old school. scan and convert to vector, then project this onto the model.
