I opened a DWG file, made a change to a note, then saved it again.

The dimensions were all in mm over inches, but the dimension text converted the carriage return to text as well - displaying it as \P

ie: 25.4 mm\P(1.00")

How can this be prevented?

The units display fine in ViaCAD, but in AutoCAD and other viewers, the carriage return is replaced by the \P and the dimensions end up on one line.

We could kidnap Tim, torture him a bit, then give the rest of the Punch team, a total frontal lobotomy. Oh you say they already have had lobotomies? ;)

This 25.4 bug has been mentioned several times. In fact I'm fed up with mentioning it. I'm so pleased I didn't upgrade to 7.

Btw, Rhino is looking good these days. Python integration via Mono, for Mac, has recently been announced, so a history tree is on it's way. 8)

sorry for the rant. My answer has no relation to your question, I'm just dissaponted with the progress of Shark. 25.4mm pops up a lot.

Usually the problem you are facing is mismatched fonts from one application to another. ACad is classic for this.

Hi Shawn

What version of ViaCAD are you using? Can you do a quick example file and post the ViaCAD and dwg file? I can use \P and export files out of ViaCAD and the return is ok in other programs.

Attached is the .vc3 files saved from ViaCAD 2D/3D v6.0.0
CONTROLHW1-RC.vc3
The dimensions appear correctly in when viewed in ViaCAD.

However, when I export this file to DWG and open with a viewer (Solidworks eDrawings), the dimensions include the \P instead of a carriage return.

Appears I cannot save the DWG file here to include in the post...???

Tried creating a sample drawing with stacked dimensions, but stack appears in ViaCAD and only one dimension appears in the viewer.
TEST1-VC.vc3

Still very new to ViaCAD and have not used it much...

Don't explode your dimensions. Open the dimension properties in Object info. Select dimension hit ctrl I, in the text box delete the # sign to override the dimension type your own text in including using \P where needed.

You need to zip up files like dwg to be able to post.
