Shark Import of DXF 2000 (#1188)

I imported an AutoCAD 2000 file into Shark 747 and the result was poor, items mis-aligned, no dimensions etc. I imported the same file into CU V2 build 581 and the file is fine. That doesn't seem right. Do you want screen shots? Patrick

Hey Patrick, fwiw, I too have had a load of misaligned problems with importing dxf files too. From what I gather from others too, the dxf/dwg file is an awkward bug**r, so i don't hold Tim that responsible- Autodesk's standards on their own file formats are about as slippery as a bath full of eels! However if Tim could crack this nut, (and he's done a pretty good job already), this would be awesome! BTW, I'm using an application called QCad as an alternative to ACAD. Apparently QCad's developers also have similar problems to what Tim has too, trying to keep up with ACAD. At the moment, I'm importing dxf files, extruding them in VC, and then cutting the material out that I don't need. If I use VC's own drafting tools, I get great results, but because I am working from files from a different application (QCad), I am having problems where lines are supposed to be in (and I'm gonna use that term Jol told me the other day) occullusion (except I still can't spell the word!) with each other, but are leaving a waffer thin surface down one end. Very annoying  We can only live in hope!

I have come across an export bug with dimension leaders "folded" across the part features in the drawing. I haven't tried the latest build yet, but an easy check is to export the file as dxf and then re-import the same. I would have to try this out with dwg as well. tom

Tom
This sounds like the same problem that was in Patrick's file. If so, its fixed in the next upload.
