ProE Import Best Way? (#2626)

I'm getting a file from the client in ProE (export from Solidworks) and it gets stuck trying to import the entire file (CU2 and Shark Beta). I can import smaller objects as ProE but it just chokes with the entire device file. We tried IGES and STEP which come in but the parts all now composed of separate surfaces and stitching them together would be a nightmare. What should I ask the client to supply as a ProE file that would break up the device into smaller chunks? Export each layer (if there are layers) individually?

The IGES file was opened with version 4 of FormZ (that's an oldie), exported to SAT and opened with ViaCAD Pro. Why such an old version of FormZ could open a file that choked Shark and CU is beyond me.
