New laptop with newest latest and greatest via pro v8 installed. Every time I edit a item, from a line to a spline there is a pause (bigger than a millisecond, smaller than a lag) and a series of updates to the concept explorer. Almost like a monster file or the computer working to hard. I have tried running in xp sp2 compatibility to win7, nothing changes. Is there a simple setting I am missing to for better, faster, stronger running?

New laptop could be using an integrated graphics card? The last time I had a major issue it was recommended to me to reinstall, a no brainer right? : ) Well I followed that advice and it worked.

Tried that, still there. Not a screamer laptop, but with task manager I do not see any cpu or memory straining. My older laptop, with less of everything runs viapro 6 without hesitation-but only on external display. reason I needed new shop floor laptop.

1.) could be the graphics card/display driver 2.) Maybe interference with anti-virus scanner ? 3.) if on Windows you might try investigating with Process Explorer Roland

I tried straight re-install from my saved download, hesitation might be worse. Computer shows no great memory usage and not really pushing the processor. Just noticed that scaling can erase lines. I like viapro (to the point I only use autocad for layer naming for cnc machines now), but almost want to go back to v6 from v8. Somewhat frustrated at the late night coffee shop trying to get some work out before work tomorrow.

maybe a low-end integrated/shared video subsystem as e.g. intel HD/GMA series with lame OpenGL support... why not name make and model? Norbert

using a cheaper toshiba, with amd vision with separate graphics card. They are built very open (not sleek and almost enclosed) and last a long time in steel shops. Runs photoshop, illustrator, and autocad 2000 without a problem. Have viapro v6 on old shop floor laptop with intel and integrated graphics, which it runs snappy - crashed the screen so I run it as second desktop currently. win 7 on both machines, the new amd has 8 gig ram, old one 2. If it is just my download I will plead with Punch to send a cd, or at least let me download again.

if an AMD Radeon Mobile you may want check for the latest driver here... and also check that the separate graphics card is used when running VC.

running 2D apps fine doesn't mean anything for running a 3D modeler.

surely depends on the model sice, the shared intel HD/GMA series are not known for showing high performance.

Download or media, it's always the same installer. Either the setup runs or not, there's nothing inbetween.

amd drivers worked! After restart I thought they did not, but the generic windows drivers took back over- removed them and I can now run dual monitors to highlight my pathetic drafting skills sans latency frustration. thank you kind sir
