Hi,
This is a low cost product that you can find in many shops in Europe, Asia, and US.
It was launched in july and several millions of units have already been sold.

The artistic design has been made by Mark Lebeau, on Shark FX.
The technical design (thread, brush, mold cavities) by me, on Shark FX too.

It is a simple product but mass production requires absolute perfection.
The glass bottle and the plastic cap are running above 200 000 units per day.
You can imagine any small mistake could get us in troubles...

Thanks to Tim for his continuous improvement of the tool !

How did you check that it was indeed perfect? Have 3D prints been made before final production?

Hi, here is a summary of the development steps :
3D design study : at least 12 different shapes.
High resolution SLA models at every step (hundreds).
3D fine tuning including glass and plastic parameters (thicknesses, drafts, etc...)
Acrylic models for Marketing approvals of final shapes (4 variants).
Price & lead-time study to select the best option.
Pilot tools for bottle, cap & brush (Real molds with one cavity - approx 40 000$).
Fine-tuning on pilot tools, materials, pigments, sampling for tests (thousands)
Filling line design, label applicator machines (on conical shape)...for a production rate of 12 000 per hour.
Construction of multi-cavity tools (24 for bottle, 64 for cap...).
Fine tuning / optimization of production tools.
Ramp-up.
Production.
Launch.

18 month of work.
In parallel we developed perfumes, lipsticks & mascaras for ultra-mass brands like this one & also for some ultra-prestige brands...

We care for women beauty !

JL, I came across a couple of reviews and customers are loving the bottle. Do you find this to be true. I never heard about the market success. Are they pleased with the big gamble and investment this was?

Hi Mark,
It is a great success on the market because it looks premium for an incredibly low price.
All the girls love it and they are buying several at once.
Most shops are out of stock...

Thanks for sharing the production process. Incredible long and expensive. I'm always amazed by the people who are starting that journey. You really have to believe in it. Then again, making beauty stuff for women is kind of low risk. ;-)

Just to let you know : the success of this nail polish on the market has been continuously growing.
The production line is now the biggest in Europe for this kind of product...

All designed with Shark !

Just to let you know again :
After 7 years of huge selling numbers... this product has been replaced by a new one.
This is the reward of cosmetic business, to keep the designers busy.

The new one has also been designed with Shark.
I'll post pictures one of these days...

It is surprising for me that You was able to create such original geometries in Shark seven years ago!!! It's incredibly good!!!

Thank you Magicart !

By the way, it is a European story :
Design was done in France
Bottles are produced in Italy
Brushes in Germany
Colored plastic caps in France
And final production (filling, assembly, labelling)... in Poland.

I will post pictures of a more recent development following exactly the same process...
