I have recently purchased SimLab as a renderer. When I try to import parts created in Shark FX v. 7 (exported as STEP), it crashes more often than I like.

When studying the exported files I can see why. Some parts, especially if with threads, are exported wrong. See the attached files. When I reimport them in Shark they either don't import (if I select stitch), or look like rubbish.

If I export as 3d studio everything seems to work, but that is not a optimal format I believe.

That format does facets and applies surfaces normals at facet nodes.

I do the following steps to see if there is an issue exporting.
--do Verify : Check object to make sure no geometry issues exist
--export as Step from ViaCAD/Shark
--import same file back in as step
--do verify: check object

We should be able to round robin a file out and back in. However when I do this with your file I get errors on check object after import.

Ok for me to provide this file to the guys at Dassault?

No problem, go ahead. I also have problems while trying to export/import iges and acis. I have several other parts that generate the same errors, and all seem to have threads cut in them. I make the threads by extruding along a helical (one rail sweep solid) and then subtracting. I haven't tried all exporting possibilities yet, but it seems that I'm out of luck regarding getting hold of the surfaces in SimLab 2.4, since all the formats supporting surfaces seem to crash.
